Things to do in Sharm El Sheikh

Kitesurfing is the reason many of our guests come, but there are plenty of things to do in Sharm El Sheikh between sessions, on a no-wind day, or for family and friends who don’t kite. Here’s our local guide, from the team at The Kite Bubble in Nabq Bay.

Nabq Bay: Where You’ll Kite and Stay

Nabq Bay is the newer, northern part of Sharm El Sheikh, just 10 minutes from the airport, and it’s where our beach center sits on a wide, flat lagoon. A promenade runs about 4 km along the bay, connecting the hotels and their beaches, and it’s perfect for an evening walk. Hard Rock Cafe Nabq and several restaurants are within walking distance of our school. Try some of the many water sports in Nabq Bay

Naama Bay and the Old Market

About 30 minutes from Nabq, Naama Bay is the lively heart of Sharm El Sheikh, with restaurants, shops and nightlife, including the famous Pacha club. For something more traditional, visit the Old Market, with Egyptian food, spices, perfumes, fruit stands and souvenirs.

Kite Trip to Blue Lagoon, Dahab

For independent riders looking for an adventure, we organise full-day kite trips to Blue Lagoon, one of Egypt’s most famous kite spots. Getting there is part of the fun: about an hour’s drive, a 15-minute boat ride, and 15 minutes off-road to reach the lagoon. On some days, beginners can join too. Ask us when you book.

Desert Safaris with Bedouin Guides

We’re happy to arrange desert safaris guided by local Bedouin tribes, including a taste of their traditional cuisine under the stars. It’s a great evening out for the whole group, kiters or not.

Day Trips Around Sinai

Sharm El Sheikh is the perfect base for exploring Sinai, in north-east Egypt:

  • Ras Mohammed National Park: some of the Red Sea’s most spectacular coral reefs, by boat or by bus, for snorkelling and diving.
  • Nabq Protected Area: right next door, with mangroves, desert landscapes and quiet beaches.
  • Mount Sinai and St Catherine’s Monastery: climb the mountain for sunrise and visit one of the oldest working monasteries in the world.
  • Coloured Canyon: hike between towering red and orange rock walls shaped over millions of years.
  • Ras Abu Galum: a protected coastline with Bedouin settlements, for a quieter, off-the-beaten-track day.
